BOROSIL GLASS WORKS LIMITED was incorporated in December 1962 in collaboration with Corning Glass Works Ltd., USA; the inventors of borosilicate glass.
Borosilicate glass is a special glass that has melting temperatures as high as 1625°C and uses a technology so sophisticated that even today there are very few manufacturers of this kind of glass in the world. In December 1988, Corning divested its share holdings to the Kheruka group who have been a leading manufacturer of sheet glass in India since 1961.
Since its inception, Borosil has been a market leader in the speciality glass industry with over 65% share in the Indian laboratory ware market, and exports to the Americas, the British Isles, Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East and South Asia.
The Borosil name is recognized by scientists, housewives, students and researchers alike. Borosil supplies its glass to all the major pharmaceutical companies, R&D facilities, and Government nuclear and defense research facilities, where quality and precision is of paramount importance. Borosil also exports its glass to several multi-million dollar catalogue companies in the UK and US. Therefore, Borosil’s entire production process is geared towards manufacturing quality products.
Borosil glass is also used by the Indian army in the Siachen glacier, because it is the only glass that doesn’t crack in sub-zero temperatures when hot tea is poured into it!
The ISO 9001:2000 certification is a proof of the high and consistent standards of quality maintained by the company.
BOROSIL® glassware has found use in over 2000 different products and applications across various segments.
Gujarat Borosil Limited, a 230 tonnes per day, high efficient flat glass production unit, is a part of Borosil group.
